In response to increasing demand
from our clients for a service of this sort, and due
in no small part, to the recent and forthcoming changes
to Charity Law and the Not For Profit Sector as whole,
the specialist Charity Law team at Lees Lloyd Whitley
has set up an innovative new Charity Law Helpline
scheme.
The scheme is free to join and enables
clients operating in the Charitable and Not For Profit
Sector to telephone our range of experts to obtain
advice and assistance on any issue that they may have.
You only incur fees as and when you
actually take advice from our solicitors, so the cost
of the scheme will depend on how often you use the
Helpline. In addition to specialist advice from our
Charity Law experts, you will have access to:
- advice from the firm’s
Commercial Property team which has particular expertise
acting for charities, housing associations and registered
social landlords in acquisitions and disposals of
properties aswell as landlord and tenant matters;
and
- the firm’s specialist Employment
Law team (which operates its own HR Helpline).
We will ensure that your legal fees do not exceed
a maximum figure of £1,000 plus VAT per annum,
irrespective of how often you need to use the Charity
Law Helpline.
Health
Check
In addition we offer, at a discounted rate to new
users, an initial compliance “Health Check”
whereby the firm’s experts will review and report
on:
- your organisation’s
existing constitutional structure in the context of
its regulatory framework;
- your organisation’s
contractual arrangements with customers, suppliers
and professional fundraisers
- the identification of and
procedure for protection and exploitation of any intellectual
property;
- staff related issues including
paperwork, policies and procedures; and
- financial matters from credit
control and debt recovery to planning for future projects.
This Health Check is available for a discounted fixed
fee of £350 plus VAT for new members of the
Charity Law Helpline scheme. It is also available
to non-members for a fee of £500 plus VAT. If
you are interested in undergoing such a Health Check
then please indicate this on the enquiry form below
and a member of the Charity Law team will contact
you with a Health Check questionnaire for completion
and return along with relevant documentation.

Services
In addition to the Helpline and the
Health Check, we also offer the following services
(where appropriate at fixed fee rates):

charitable status (including application to the Charity
Commission);
